Eight suspects have been arrested in connection with the abduction of six persons from the University of Abuja Senior Staff Quarters in Giri, Gwagwalada Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
This is contained in a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer of the FCT Command, Josephine Adeh and made available to the media.
Adeh says the arrest was done in collaboration with other sister security agencies who uncovered the criminals hideout where they were engaged in a gun duel to rescue the six victims including two professors.
The police spokesperson says the security personnel overpowered the suspects with superior fire power leading to the arrest at their hideout in Shenegwu Forest in Gwagwalada Area Council of the Territory.

Adeh says some other members of the gang fled into the forest and nearby communities.
Meanwhile, the FCT Commissioner of Police, Babaji Sunday has called on residents particularly those around the Gwagwalada area to be vigilant and provide the police with useful information that will lead to the arrest of the gang members still at large.
All the suspects will be charged to court on conclusion of the investigation.
