The Zamfara State Police Command has arrested a notorious armed bandit operating in Dan-Makulu Village, Banga District of Kaura Namoda Local Government Area
alongside other criminal elements.
While briefing journalists at the Command Headquarters, Police Spokesperson Yazid Abubakar alleged that the suspect, Audi Maikano, had been terrorising residents killing and robbing commuters along feeder roads.
The arrest of the notorious bandit followed credible intelligence and acting on the report received on April 29, 2026, a combined team of police and military personnel mobilised to the area and apprehended the suspect.
He was found in possession of a fabricated AK-47 rifle and other exhibits.

Within the past week, police also arrested another suspect, Abdullahi Idris, with a large quantity of dry leaves suspected to be Indian hemp.
Additional suspects were apprehended for various offences including possession of illicit drugs, criminal conspiracy, assault, house trespass, and theft. A stolen tricycle was also recovered.

In another development, police revealed that following complaints of public disturbance and reckless driving within the Gusau metropolis, about 10 members of the “Yan Arilit” group known for reckless riding were arrested, with their motorcycles seized.

Police say these achievements were made possible with the support of Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal, Commissioner of Police Ahmed Bello, and the Inspector General of Police, Olatunji Disu.
The Command is urging members of the public to continue providing credible information to help combat crime and criminality across Zamfara State.
