The Police in Niger State have arrested a couple for faking kidnap and demanding five million Naira ransom.
The couple are thirty-nine years old Muhammad Muhammad and thirty-one-year-old Sadiya Umar, both of the Limawa area in Chanchaga Local Government Area of Niger State.
On the fifteenth of this month, according to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, Deputy Superintendent Wasiu Abiodun, Sadiya was reported to have been kidnapped by unknown persons after she boarded a tricycle.
Unknown persons contacted the father, demanding five million Naira ransom, which was later reduced to one million Naira.
The agreed one million Naira was dropped at a location in Rafin-Yashi, in Bosso Local Government Area of Niger State, for the unknown person to pick.

Sadiya surfaced on the twenty-first of this month at the location.
During interrogation, she confessed to having conspired with her husband to fake the kidnap.
She added that she was taken to Nugupi village, where she stayed.
Muhammad, Sadiya’s husband confessed to have collected his wife’s phone and handed it over to his friend, who negotiated and collected the ransom on his behalf.
The Police said, as soon as investigation is concluded, the suspects will be arraigned in court.
