The Nigeria Police Force, through INTERPOL National Central Bureau Abuja, has arrested and repatriated a Chinese fugitive, Xu Qing, to China over his alleged involvement in a $245 million Ponzi scheme.
According to the police, the suspect was declared wanted by Chinese authorities in Beijing for allegedly operating a large-scale illegal deposit and investment scheme.
Investigations revealed that Xu Qing fled to Nigeria on November 5, 2024, to evade arrest after a warrant was issued against him by Chinese authorities.
Operatives of INTERPOL NCB Abuja later tracked and arrested him at a factory in Ogun State on April 24, 2026, before his repatriation to China on April 28 through bilateral police cooperation arrangements.
The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to international collaboration in combating transnational organised crime.
