According to a statement by Superintendent Wasi’u Abiodun, the police spokesman, the suspect, a resident of Sabon-Gari in Kontagora, was apprehended on February 11, 2026 at about 10:00 o’clock by operatives of the Kontagora Area Command.

Police investigations revealed that Mohammed allegedly lured the three victims, aged between six and seven years, to an uncompleted building in the Dadin-Kowa area of Kontagora under the pretence of giving them candy.

Abiodun further stated that during the attempt, one of the girls reportedly raised an alarm, drawing the attention of neighbours who swiftly intervened and ensured he was arrested.

It was gathered that the suspect was subsequently handed over to the police and has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Minna for further investigation and possible prosecution.

In a separate development, the Police also disclosed that they have recovered an abandoned rusty Submachine Gun (SMG) rifle suspected to have been abandoned by a hoodlum in the Mokwa Local Government Area of the state.

Abiodun disclosed that on February 12, 2026, at about 5:30 p.m., a report was received from a resident who discovered a firearm while clearing bushes around Government Teachers College in Mokwa.

According to him, operatives attached to Mokwa Division were immediately deployed to the scene, where they recovered the gun, which is currently undergoing ballistic analysis to determine its origin and possible connection to criminal activities in the area.
