The Police in Nasarawa state say they have arrested a fake Naval Officer who is also a suspected notorious criminal and fraudster.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Assistant Superintendent of Police Ranham Nansel made this known in a statement.

According to the statement, at about 1:30pm on July 24, the Police personnel attached to New Karu Division while on intensive surveillance patrol, arrested a 32-year-old Nasiru Ahmed alleged to be an impostor, notorious criminal and serial fraudster.
Nansel also added that, the suspect usually dresses in full military camouflage uniform of the Nigeria Navy and usually approach Point Of Sale, P.O.S, operators at different locations within Karu Local Government Area, Nasarawa State under the guise of conducting transactions and send in fake bank alerts into their mobile phones in lieu of cash.
The statement also added that, the suspect in most cases intimidate, harass and assault the operators whenever they complain about the money given to him not reflecting in their bank accounts.
Nansel further added that after the suspects arrest, a thorough search was conducted in his house and some incriminating items were found.
The items according to the police are: Two sets of the Nigerian Navy uniforms, two sets of boots, one set of knee guard and one dagger which the suspect admitted to using them for his nefarious activities.
The commissioner of Police, Bola Longe has directed that, the suspect be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Lafia for further investigation.
