Police Arrest Two Suspects For Killing Truck Driver, Assistant In Edo

The Edo state Police command has arrested two suspects over the murder of a truck driver and his assistant along the Benin-Agbor road in the state.

The arrest of the suspects which was contained in a press statement released to journalists by the public relations officer of the command Chidi Nwabuzor also stated that the suspects robbed the truck driver of a petrol laden truck.

According to him the suspects, thirty three year old Daniel Amuzoga, from Ukwuani in Delta State, and thirty year old Christopher Omiose, from Esan land in Edo State and two other gang members attacked the driver of a petrol laden truck with registration number ENU 376 XU in company of his assistant and the owner of the truck along the Benin-Agbor Road by Okhuaihe Bridge, Benin with guns and cutlasses while they were transporting forty five thousand litres of premium motor spirit also known as petrol from Lagos State to Onitsha in Anambra State.

During the attack, they robbed the driver of the truck, shot him on the chest ,the assistant was given a machete cut on the forehead and the truck owner on the hand.

On the arrival of the Divisional Police Officer and his men to the scene, they immediately rushed the victims to Aigbogun Hospital for treatment and the medical doctor confirmed the truck driver and his assistant dead on arrival and their bodies deposited at the hospital mortuary while the owner of the truck recovered as he responded to treatment.

With intensive manhunt for the suspects , the Divisional Police Officers of Ukhuaihe Division and that of Egba Division, Benin City, using technical intelligence, arrested the suspects Daniel Amuzoga and Christopher Omiose at Ehor in Edo State while selling the petrol from the robbed truck to people.

The police image maker has assured of proper investigation with assistance from the suspects who are presently in custody.
