Police have confirmed the arrest of one suspect shown in a viral social media video, where two women were filmed assaulting a teenage girl, over what is now confirmed as disagreement.
The three-minute disturbing amateur video captured two women physically assaulting a young teenage girl in Umueri, Anambra East Local Government Area of Anambra State., South-East Nigeria.
The spokesperson of the Anambra State Police Command, SP, Tochukwu Ikenga, says one of the suspects, Chidinma Ogugua, aged 19 is cooling off at the command, while efforts have been intensified to apprehend the other fleeing suspect.
Ikenga noted that preliminary investigation reveals that the victim was subjected to physical abuse following a disagreement, noting that the Command condemns such an act, describing it as cruel, inhuman and violation of the law.
He assured the public that justice will be served, reiterating the Command’s commitment to protecting the rights and dignity of all individuals, especially vulnerable persons.
The statement urges anyone with useful information that could aid the ongoing investigation or arrest of the other fleeing suspect to report to the nearest police station.
