FCT Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Sanusi, has ordered an immediate investigation into alleged extortion by police officers during a stop-and-search operation over one year ago.
In a statement, the Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, Josephine Adeh, said a receipt circulating along with a social media video showed that the alleged incident occurred on May 19, 2025, before the current police administration.
The Command, however, says it is committed to establishing the facts, noting that preliminary investigations revealed that an officer allegedly linked to the incident had reported the loss of his official identification card before the date in question.
The Command has invited all persons involved to its headquarters on Monday, October 26, 2026, at 11am to provide information to aid the investigation.
It also reiterated its zero tolerance for extortion and police misconduct, urging residents to report such incidents with accurate dates, times and locations.
