Police Bust Kidnappers’ Hideout in Nasarawa

Nasarawa Police have arrested a suspected notorious kidnapper, Jibril Yunusa, during an operation in Gidan Akuya Village in Keana Local Government Area.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Rahman Nansel, operatives from the State Intelligence Department acted on credible intelligence that led them to the hideout and when officers arrived, the suspects including Jibril Yunusa attempted to escape but was captured after a pursuit.

During interrogation, the suspect confessed to participating in several kidnapping operations in Keana and Awe local government areas of the state and reportedly provided useful information to assist ongoing investigations.

The Commissioner of Police, Shetima Jauro Mohammed, has ordered officers to intensify efforts to track down the remaining gang members who fled the scene.

Items recovered at the hideout included one AK-47 rifle, one empty magazine and one locally fabricated rifle

Police say investigations are ongoing as efforts continue to arrest the other suspects.
