Police confirm Death of Student Following Plateau Polytechnic Protest

The Plateau State Police Command on Tuesday, Confirmed that a student of the State Polytechnic who was being treated following the injuries sustained during Monday protest, is dead.

The Command’s Spokesman, ASP Gabriel Ubah, who confirmed the development to ait.live in a statement, said the deceased earlier rushed to the hospital for treatment after Injuries sustained through stray bullet could not survive.

Recall, that Plateau State Government on Monday, issued a statement denying any casualty following the protest by the Polytechnic students who blocked the main highway into the state.

However, the government in another statement signed by the Commissioner for information Dan Manjang, on Tuesday also confirmed the development, regretting the sad incident which resulted in the death of the Student.

While commiserating with the family of the deceased, Manjang assured that the government will not spare anyone found culpable in the death of the student.

He said the Deputy Governor has directed a government delegation, to visit the family of the deceased student, to sympathise with them over the sad and unfortunate situation.

The Police said it has commenced investigation into the incident.
