Kwara State Police Command has confirmed the killing of the traditional ruler of Koro community of Ekiti Local Government Area of the State, Olusegun Aremu Cole who was reportedly shot dead by gunmen in his palace who also whisked away his wife and one other person yet to be identified.
This is contained in a statement made available to AIT.live in Ilorin, the state capital, Police Public Relations Officer, DSP. Ejire-Adeyemi Toun noted that Commissioner of Police Victor Olaiya has ordered immediate and intensive investigations into the killing to arrest the perpetrators assuring the public that no stone would be left unturned in ensuring that the perpetrators are brought to justice swiftly.
The statement further explained that security measures in Koro community have been intensified, while tactical teams have been mobilised to beef up security to ensure the safety and wellbeing of the residents.

The Police Commissioner however urges the public to remain calm, vigilant and cooperative while investigations are ongoing to unravel the matter, arrest and charge the culprits to court.
Similarly, the Kwara State Government has also confirmed the development in a statement signed by Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Rafiu Ajakaye condemning the killing of the monarch describing it as reckless, shocking and abominable. The Governor has charged the security agencies not to spare any resources to track down the perpetrators, free the spouse of the monarch and one other person abducted while bringing the suspects to book.
