The Police in Niger State have destroyed improvised explosive devices and bombs recovered from different locations, during multiple counter-insurgency operations with other security agencies in the state, between the period of 2021 and 2023.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Shawulu Danmamman, who gave the directive, said it was to ensure a safer and more secure environment in the state.

A statement by Police spokesman in the state, Superintendent Wasi’u Abiodun, described the items destroyed as four pipe-borne IEDs buried in the ground, recovered at Galadima-Kogo, Shiroro LGA; explosives concealed in empty shells of suspected military missiles; and a 5 kg cooking gas cylinder recovered at Mutun-Daya, Shiroro LGA.
