Police say all 14 persons kidnapped by sea pirates along the Calabar-Oron waterways have been rescued through a joint operation with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.
A statement signed by the Akwa-Ibom State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Timfon John says the rescue followed intelligence-driven operations, surveillance, and coordinated pressure mounted on criminal elements operating within the maritime corridor.
According to the Command, operatives moved into identified flashpoints, leading to the safe rescue of the 14 victims without any loss of life.
The rescued persons are currently receiving medical attention and undergoing debriefing before being reunited with their families.
Commissioner of Police, Baba Mohammed Azare, commended officers of both agencies for what he described as professionalism and strong synergy.
He assured residents and maritime operators of increased security presence along the waterways, while efforts continue to track down those behind the abduction.
The Police also warned criminal elements to stay away from illegal activities or face decisive action.
