The Nasarawa State Police Command has foiled an alleged kidnapping plot and arrested four suspects accused of planning to abduct and kill their victim after collecting ransom.
The police spokesperson, SP Ramhan Nansel, in a statement said the suspects were arrested following credible intelligence received by operatives of the State Intelligence Department (SID) in Lafia.
The suspects were identified as Yahaya Musa, Likita Adamu, Riga Abdullahi and Saidu Alhaji Gari, all residents of Adudu District in Obi Local Government Area.
According to the police, the suspects allegedly planned to abduct Alhaji Ibrahim Abdullahi, popularly known as Alhaji Na’iye, collect ransom from his family and subsequently kill him. Two of the suspects were arrested on September 19, while the other two were arrested on September 22 and 23.
Nansel said the suspects allegedly confessed to their involvement during interrogation. They have since been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Lafia for further investigation and prosecution.
In a separate development, the command also arrested two suspects in connection with a suspected cult-related killing in Lafia. The incident occurred on September 24, 2026, when police responded to a distress call behind the Eji-World area.
The police said a 26-year-old man identified as Venus was found lying in a pool of blood and was rushed to the Federal University Teaching Hospital, Lafia, where he was pronounced dead. His remains were deposited at the hospital mortuary for autopsy.
The police said preliminary investigations indicated that the attackers were searching for the victim’s friend, Joseph Friday Oluyemi, who had earlier reported receiving threats from suspected cult members. Two suspects, Friday Joshua and Auta Vincent, have been arrested, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend other suspects linked to the incident.
