Police Kill One Terrorist, Arrest Another As They Repel Attacks In Katsina

Police in Katsina say they have killed a terrorist and arrested another in the Funtua Local Government Area of the state.

In a statement by Police spokesman, Superintendent Gambo Isah, the incident occurred in the Jabiri Area of Funtua Local Government Area.

According to him, “On the 8th of March, at about 0100 hours, a distress call was received, that terrorists in their numbers, shooting sporadically with AK-47 rifles, attacked a household at Jabiri Area, Funtua LGA”.

Isah said, upon receipt of the report, the Divisional Police Officer of the area, led a team of policemen to the scene, and engaged the hoodlums in a fierce gun duel.

He added that, due to superior firepower, the team successfully repelled the attack, neutralized one of the terrorists, arrested a 25-year-old Jamilu Ahmed of Rugar Sarkin Baka, Goya Village, Funtua LGA, and recovered one Ak-47 rifle.

In the course of the investigation, Isah said the suspect, confessed to the commission of the offence and further confessed to several banditries in Tatari, Abasawa, Majewa, and Bageri villages, among others, leading to armed robbery and kidnappings.

The police spokesman further added that the suspect also confessed to having shot and killed two of his victims.
