Police Launch Manhunt As Correctional Service Officer Allegedly kills Photo Journalist In Kogi

Authorities have launched a manhunt for Adebayo Pelumi, a serving officer of the Nigeria Correctional Service, accused of brutally murdering photojournalist Ayo Aiyepeku in Lokoja, Kogi State.

The incident occurred at the victim’s office in the Government Residential Area (GRA). According to an eyewitness, who requested anonymity, the suspect allegedly struck Aiyepeku on the head, dismembered his body, and stored the remains in a refrigerator.

The suspect, reportedly stationed at Zone H in Makurdi, covering Kogi and Benue States, is now on the run.The Kogi State Police Public Relations Officer confirmed the incident to ait.live on Wednesday, describing the killing as culpable homicide. “The matter was reported to the Divisional Police Officer, A Division. Police visited the scene, and investigation has commenced,” the spokesperson stated.

Commissioner of Police CP Miller Dantawaye has ordered the case transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for a thorough probe. “Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the suspect, who is currently at large. He will be prosecuted accordingly,” the police added.The police urge anyone with information on the suspect’s whereabouts to come forward as the investigation continues.
