One of the key suspects, 42-year-old Mohammed Buba was arrested by operatives of the Command’s Tactical Support Team following intelligence reports from Munya Local Government Area for allegedly producing fake National Identification Number (NIN) cards and Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) for more than 1,000 unsuspecting residents.

During interrogation, Mohammed reportedly confessed to operating the illegal business for several years, targeting residents of Munya and Wushishi Local Government Areas.

According to the police, the suspect charged victims ₦2,000 for each fake NIN card and ₦1,000 for every fake voter card.

A further search of the suspect’s residence in Angwan-Sarki led to the recovery of 105 fake NIN cards and 189 fake voter cards.

Police warned members of the public against patronising unauthorised agents for identity and voter registration services, urging residents to use only approved government channels.

Similarly, CP Adamu Elleman added that some suspects have been arrested in connection with the recent land crisis between the Kamuku and the Fulani communities in the Rafi local government area which led to the death of about 100 persons and the burning down of another 100 houses.

Other recoveries made by the command during the period under review include 10 AK rifles of 74, 49 and 47, 330 rounds of live ammunition, 9 children rescued from traffickers, large quantities of illicit drugs, among others.
