A six month old baby allegedly stolen from Edo State and taken to Imo State has been recovered and reunited with the family.
Police investigators from the Command in Edo State have also arrested suspects in separate cases involving the alleged stripping and assault of a young girl, cultism and the rape of a 70 year old woman.
The recovery of the six month old baby followed an investigation by the Gender and Family Unit of the Edo State Police Command.
Police Public Relations Officer, Eno Ikoedem, says the child was allegedly taken from Edo State to Imo State before being traced and recovered.
The baby has since been reunited with the family, while suspects linked to the case are in police custody.
Another investigation followed the circulation of a video on social media showing a young girl being stripped and assaulted.
Police say suspects were arrested at Ekiadolor in connection with the assault and the recording and circulation of the footage.
The case is also being handled as part of investigations into violence against the victim and the circumstances surrounding the production and distribution of the material.
At Otuo, seven suspected cult members were arrested in a separate operation.
Police say investigations are continuing to establish their alleged involvement in cult related activities and determine whether others are connected to the case.
In Igueben, police are investigating another case involving the alleged rape of a 70 year old woman.
A 30 year old man has been taken into custody in connection with the allegation as investigators work to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The Command is also investigating an alleged fraud involving the use of a seal said to belong to the Nigerian Bar Association, Benin Branch.
Police say the circumstances surrounding the use of the seal and those allegedly connected to the case are being investigated.
From the recovery of the six month old baby to the arrests over the viral assault, alleged cultism, rape and fraud, police say investigations into the separate cases are continuing.
The Command is asking residents with information that could assist ongoing investigations to make it available to the Police.
