Police recover two corpses from clashes in Ibaji LGA of Kogi State

The police say normalcy has been restored in Itale and Ishi communities in Ibaji Local Government Area following a violent communal clash on Wednesday.

According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, Kogi State Command, ASP Saliu Oyiza Afusat, two male corpses were recovered from different locations within Ishi community while one other victim who sustained gunshot injury from a pump-action rifle was immediately rushed to the General Hospital in Idah, for treatment.

ASP Afusat, says the area remains under active surveillance with sustained security deployment and ongoing monitoring while persons of interest have been identified from both communities in connection with the incident.

Kogi State Police Commissioner, CP Naziru Bello Kankarofi, reaffirms the commitment of the command to the protection of lives and property but warned that the full weight of the law will be decisively brought to bear on anyone found culpable.

CP Kankarofi urged members of the public to remain calm, vigilant, and cooperative and to promptly provide any credible information that may assist ongoing operations, with assurances that all information received will be treated with the strictest confidence.

The statement also encouraged members of the public to report any suspicious activities to the Command.
