Police rescue 39 kidnapped victims, arrest 10 in Zamfara

The Police in Zamfara State have rescued 39 Kidnapped victims who were abducted in March and early April from various villages of Bungudu and Maru Local Government Areas of the state.

They also arrested ten suspects for different offences, and recovered locally fabricated guns, as well as a stolen Honda vehicle 2012 model, among others, in the state.

The 39 Kidnapped victims rescued by the Zamfara State Police Command included 15 females, nursing mothers, 8 males and 16 children.

The Commissioner of Police in Zamfara State, CP Ayuba Elkana, explained that the 39 abducted persons were rescued, as a result of the ongoing Police and Military Joint Clearance Operation at Dabar Magaji Camp, located in Kadanya Forest, between Kaura Namoda and Maradun Local Government Areas of the state.

He said the Police apprehended ten suspects, including three kidnappers, in connection with the abduction of two persons, at the Fakon Idi Area, in Talata Marafa Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

The three suspects are Babangida Yusuf, Ibrahim Lawali, and Abdulsalam Abubakar.

The CP disclosed that four out of the ten suspects were members of the vigilante operatives, who are terrorizing innocent marketers at Dogon Kade Market, in Kaura Namoda Local Government Area of the state.

The Police said they would charge the suspects to court after investigations are concluded.
