The Benue State Police Command has rescued the State Director of Treasury Geoffrey Agada, who was kidnapped by a 5-man syndicate from his home in Makurdi on Thursday.
Presenting the victim to Governor Samuel Ortom at the Government House, the State Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Mukadass said Agada was rescued after a gun battle with the kidnappers, leading to some arrest and the recovery of one AK47 rifle.

He maintained that no ransom was paid even though the kidnappers had made a demand of N50 million before the victim was rescued.
Responding Governor Ortom thanked the police for the rescue operation without paying any ransom to the criminals noting that the victim is one of his most dedicated staff In the Finance Department of the State.
He vowed to strengthen the state anti-kidnapping law and increase support to security agencies to support their operation.
