As part of ongoing efforts to improve security situation across Delta State, South-South Nigeria, the police command has sought the collaboration of transport unions in crime prevention.
State Commissioner of Police, Yemi Oyeniyi, who stated this during a meeting with the transporters, says the collaboration is necessary because, criminal elements often exploit transport systems for arms smuggling, and other nefarious activities.
The meeting, which was held in line with the directive of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Disu, is focused on engaging critical stakeholders whose activities directly impact public safety and security.
After much deliberations, all parties agreed to work together in crime prevention.
The CP also stated that the engagement would be continuous, noting that sustained community collaboration would help in implementing policies aimed at reducing crime across the state.
