Some political parties and traditional rulers in Edo state have disagreed with the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, over plans to create additional polling units in the State.
The political parties and other critical stakeholders kicked against the move at a meeting organized by the electoral body in Benin city on its planned expansion of polling units.
Explanation by the INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner in Edo State, Johnson Alalibo that the expansion of polling units will encourage more participation in elections was not enough to allay the fears of the political parties.

Similar attempts by one of the facilitators, Toyin Abegunde equally failed to convince the political parties and the traditional rulers who were curious to know how the electoral body will know those who reside close to the areas where the new polling units will be located.
