President Muhammadu Buhari says the effectiveness of the Nigerian Police was crucial to the sustenance of democracy in Nigeria.
President Buhari said this at the second annual conference and retreat for senior officers of the Nigerian Police Force in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom state capital.
President Buhari who was represented at the event by the Minister of Police Affairs, Mohammed Dingyadi said the Buhari administration has invested enormously in repositioning the police for effective service to the people.
With the theme: The New Police Vision : A Road Map For Stabilizing Internal Security, Akwa Ibom state governor, Udom Emmanuel expressed gratitude to the organisers for bringing the retreat to the state.

He however called for a revamp of the police.
Ekiti state Governor, Kayode Fayemi also advocated for a vibrant community policing that must be supported by the government while the
Inspector General of Police, Alkali Baba maintained that with the challenges of the political season ,there was need to restrategize and reappraise the Nigerian security architecture.
Senior police officers attending the retreat are commissioners of police, Assistant Inspector General of Police and Deputy Inspector General of police.
