Visitors to the Presidential Villa Abuja including Governors will now be required to do a rapid Covid-19 test at the gate before being allowed access to meet with the President or attend any function.
Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu who confirmed the development on Sunday evening said the policy became necessary following the discovery of positive Covid-19 cases in some of those tested in the last few days.
Shehu explained that the test kits will be freely issued and no one is required to make payment.

He added that the policy is purely temporary in view of the recent spike in cases, and will be removed any moment the situation abates.
He however noted that some exceptions have been made for a few leaders in government coming from outside the Villa, but they are also encouraged to do the tests.
