Few months after the senator representing President Muhammadu Buhari’s Katsina North Senatorial District, popularly known as Daura Zone, Ahmed Baba-Kaita dumped the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, to the major opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, the House of Representatives member representing Daura-Sandamu-Mai’adua Federal Constituency, Fatuhu Muhammad has resigned from the party.

Muhammad is the nephew of President Buhari. His resignation is contained in a letter he personally signed and addressed to the Sarkin Yara Ward APC chairman in Daura Local Government Area dated, July 13, 2022.

According to the letter copied to Daura Local Government APC Chairman and the State Party Chairman, Muhammad said his resignation is with immediate effect from July 13.

The letter reads “This is to notify you that I have resigned my membership from the All Progressives Congress (APC) with immediate effect commencing from Wednesday the 13th day of July, 2022. Attached herewith is my Party Membership Registration slip with slip No. KT/DRA/10/00002.

While I thank you and the Party for the opportunity given to me to serve the interest of the people of Daura-Sandamu-Mai’Adua Federal Constituency while working with the party, accept my best wishes please”.

His resignation is not unconnected with the outcome of the just party primaries where he was defeated by Aminu Jamo who polled 117 votes as against his 30 votes, to emerge the APC candidate.

After the primaries, Muhammad had filed some petitions and complaints before the Party’s Appeal Committee and indicted many persons who later described his allegations as false.
