President Bola Tinubu says Nigeria must convert its growing global cultural influence into lasting economic value for Nigerians.
The President stated this in a post on his official X handle following a meeting in Paris with Vincent Bolloré of the Bolloré Group and executives of the company.
According to President Tinubu, the discussions focused on expanding the group’s investments in Nigeria across film, entertainment, fibre optics, and the digital economy.
He said companies within the group, including Canal+, MultiChoice, and Universal Music, are looking to deepen their presence and investments in Nigeria.
President Tinubu noted that Nigerian music, films, fashion and creative content are gaining increasing international recognition, describing the country as the “arrowhead of Africa’s cultural awakening,” driven by Nollywood, Afrobeats and the growing global appetite for Nigerian culture.

He said the federal government wants a greater share of the economic value generated by Nigerian talent to remain within the country.
The President said this would involve increased local production, greater investment in domestic creative industries and infrastructure, as well as the creation of more jobs and opportunities for young Nigerians.
He also reiterated his position on greater localisation by MultiChoice, saying he had consistently made the case for increased local value creation.
President Tinubu said the reforms being implemented by his administration are creating conditions for investment and economic growth.
He added that his responsibility is to ensure that investments coming into Nigeria translate into tangible opportunities for Nigerians.
According to the president, this forms part of the objectives of his administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
