President Bola Tinubu has expressed deep sorrow over the death of the Emir of Zurmi, Sarkin Zamfaran Zurmi, His Royal Highness, Alhaji Bello Sulaiman.
The Emir died on Monday, five years after ascending the throne.
According to a statement issued by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu extended his heartfelt condolences to the family of the late traditional ruler, the Zurmi Emirate Council, the government and people of Zamfara State, and the entire traditional institution in Nigeria.
The President described the late Sarkin Zamfaran Zurmi as a highly respected monarch who led his people with wisdom, dignity and unwavering commitment during a challenging period.
President Tinubu noted that Alhaji Sulaiman demonstrated exemplary courage and leadership in guiding the Zurmi Emirate through difficult security challenges, while fostering peace, unity and resilience among his people.
The President described the late Emir as a stabilising figure whose wise counsel and dedication to peace-building were invaluable to Zurmi Emirate, Zamfara State and the nation’s efforts to restore lasting peace in the North-West.
Tinubu prayed that Almighty Allah would forgive the departed traditional ruler’s shortcomings, reward his good deeds and grant him Aljannah Firdaus.
He also prayed for comfort and fortitude for the family, the people of Zurmi and all those mourning the death of the monarch.
