President Bola Tinubu has expressed sadness over the death of the Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for Shari’ah in Nigeria, Malam Nafiu Baba-Ahmed.
Baba-Ahmed, a respected administrator and religious leader, died in the early hours of Tuesday after a career devoted to service to Islam and the nation.
According to a statement issued by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu described the deceased as an impactful leader who steered the affairs of the Council with wisdom, foresight and commitment to unity, justice and peaceful coexistence.
The President also recalled his long-standing association with Baba-Ahmed, including his counsel and support during the 2023 presidential campaign.
Tinubu condoled with the leadership and members of the Council, the Baba-Ahmed family, the government and people of Kaduna State and the Muslim Ummah, praying for the repose of his soul and his admission into Jannatul Firdaus.
