President Bola Tinubu has forwarded a request to the Senate to screen and confirm Usoro Offiong Akpabio as the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the newly established South-South Development Commission (SSDC).
The President also nominated 17 other individuals to serve as Chairman and members of the Board of the Commission.
The request was read during Thursday’s plenary session and is said to be in accordance with Part 1, Section 3(1) of the South-South Development Commission (Establishment) Act, 2025.

• Tijani Yahaya Kaura (North-West) – Member
• Tabitha Iliya Sallah (North-East) – Member

• Hon. Bukonla Braimoh (South-West) – Member

The Senate has referred the list to the appropriate Committee, which is expected to submit its report within one week.
