President Bola Tinubu has mandated Vice President Kashim Shettima to lead Nigeria’s delegation to the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly, UNGA in New York, United States.
Vice President Shettima is leading a high-level delegation comprising Governors Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State, Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State, ministers and other senior government officials to the 81st session of UNGA.
The General Debate holds from September 22nd to 28th under the theme “Restoring trust, managing transformation: A United Nations that delivers for all.”
At the UNGA, Shettima will deliver Nigeria’s national statement on global issues affecting national development, peace and security, and will also hold bilateral meetings with world leaders and development partners to advance President Tinubu’s economic diplomacy, climate finance and multilateral cooperation.
Since his assumption of office, President Tinubu only addressed UNGA in 2023 and was represented by Vice President Shettima in 2024 and 2025.
