Farmers, forest guards and drivers in Ondo state have thrown their weight behind the order by Governor Rotimi Akeredolu to unregistered herders to vacate the state’s forest reserves.
The group took to the streets of Akure, the state capital to demonstrate their anger over recent abduction of their members by herders.
Carrying placards with various inscriptions, the protesters say the decision taken by the State Government, is in the best interest of the people of the state.
Some farmers said if the current state of insecurity is not checked, might lead to famine in the land as the recent increase in prices of farm commodities is connected with the activities of herdsmen.

Traditional rulers in the state also lent their voices to the issue saying nobody has the right to use the forest reserves, without due authorisation.
They condemned what they described as the deliberate attempt by some persons to twist the governor‘s clear directive on the use of government forest reserves.
