The Nigerian customs service, Eastern Marine Command has intercepted over Seventeen Thousand litres of Premium Motor Spirit, PMS also known as petrol and various kinds of smuggled items along the Oron-Ibaka-Calabar coastal waterways in Akwa-Ibom state.
The comptroller Eastern marine command, Chika Dim while speaking with Journalists says the agency is determined in its efforts to secure Nigerian borders from smugglers and other criminal activities.
The provisions of ballistic gun boats by the Nigeria customs service to the Eastern Marine Command in the war against smuggling activities along the southern coastal waterways that border countries like Cameroon and Equatorial Guinea has been yielding positive results.

Items intercepted included petroleum products, over six thousand pieces of unregistered assorted alcohol and soft drinks, cartons of Foreign Soap, Tomato paste, bags of used clothing and hundreds of assorted cosmetics products to mention a few.
Comptroller Chika Dim called on the general public to desist from engaging in smuggling activities as it was not only harmful to the economy but illegal and also hinders the development and progress of the country.
Hw added that customs will not relent in arresting and prosecuting smugglers.
The Customs Authority commended the synergy amongst sister Security Agencies in sharing intelligence.
