Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal has called on the people to intensify efforts to seek divine intervention during the holy month of Ramadan for the government to overcome the security challenges facing the state and other parts of Nigeria.

The Governor was speaking during the distribution of assorted food items to 13, 000 poor and vulnerable households across four Local Government Areas of Bungudu, Gusau, Maru, and Tsafe to cushion the impact of economic hardship and make the observance of the Ramadan fast easy for them.

The resurgence of activities of terrorists is not only of concern to the people but the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP-led government which is determined to address the challenge to restore peace and stability across the troubled parts of Zamfara State, North-West Nigeria.

Governor Lawal who was in Tsafe, one of the troubled Local Governments to launch the distribution of food items provided for 13,000 poor and vulnerable households to ease their fasting and reduce the hardship occasioned by the removal of fuel subsidy, used the opportunity to call on the people to pray during the Ramadan for God to intervene over the security challenges bedeviling the State.

The Governor described the gesture as commendable, and an act of charity in keeping with the faith to support the needy and poor during the holy month of Ramadan, and the hardship which was caused by factors such as the removal of fuel subsidy and banditry that did not allow farmers to access their lands to produce food.

The senator representing Zamfara Central, Bilbis Ikra believes that prayers to God is a powerful weapon to surmount the current challenges being faced in the country and urges the people to support the government’s policies to achieve a peaceful society for all.

Governor Lawal disclosed that he had directed for the immediate release and distribution of assorted grains from the strategic reserve and it has also procured additional grains to distribute to the poor and vulnerable persons to ease the hardship on the residents.
