The The drumbeat is getting louder for the ongoing Youth Sports Federation of Nigeria YSFON National U-16 Football Tournament in kano.
On Match day 2 the most unbelievable was the result of the South West derby between Ekiti and Oyo states.
On paper the game had the trapping of the stiffest opposition. Unfortunately it ended up like a comedy as the Seyi Makinde boys made a mince meat of Ekiti by 8-nil.
Host Kano had free ride as they overpowered their Zamfara Opponents 4-nil to qualify for the quarter finals with 6 points having defeated Rivers State 7-1 a day earlier.
Defending Champions the Kwara boys are also having a pleasant cruise.They also won their second match 3-2 against Kaduna to go through to the quarter finals while Kaduna may be on the way home having lost two matches so far.

It was also a bad omen for the Lagos State team after the trouble they went through on the bad roads. Getting to Kano they lost their two matches 1 nil to FCT then 3nil to Bauchi.
Sokoto and Bauchi seem to be the other Group C teams to watch, as Sokoto defeated the FCT 4-1 after their initial 2-2 draw with Bauchi, A win against Lagos on Tuesday will earn them a quarter-final ticket.
The Gombe team also defeated Kaduna 2-1 in the first match and drew 1-1 with Nasarawa, A win against Kwara on Tuesday will also see them through to the quarter-finals. However, Nasarawa must beat Kaduna to get a chance to progress from group B
Reacting on the matches, YSFON’s Technical director Abdulgafar Agboola, says though it’s not been easy, yet the performance of the teams so far has been heart-warming
Agboola insisted that the boys have demonstrated a high sense of discipline even in the face of the Covid-19 pandemic
Tuesday’s most decisive fixtures are Ogun versus Kano, Zamfara versus Rivers in Group A, Group B has Gombe facing Kwara, Kaduna tackles Nasarawa, Sokoto will also confront Lagos and Bauchi against FCT in Group C, The last matches of the day will be the Group D encounters between Osun and Oyo on one hand and Ekiti against Kebbi on the other.
