Reactions have continued to trail the arrest and detention of chairman of the board of trustees of the Coalition of Northern Groups, CNG, Nastura Sharif, who is currently being detained at the Police Force Headquarters, Abuja.
The reaction this time is coming from the Katsina State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, calling for his immediate and unconditional release, saying that the CNG exercised their fundamental human right of peaceful protest.
Speaking on behalf of the Katsina State chapter of the PDP, Chairman of the party, Salisu Majigiri, said it is unlawful to detain someone who only cried out as a result of the incessant killings going on in the land.
Majigiri, who narrated how Sharif was arrested, said the protest was adjudged to be peaceful and violent-free describing the detention as undemocratic and an act of intolerance.
The PDP boss said with concern that the party demands immediate and unconditional release of Sharif.
