The Rector of Kwara State Polytechnic, KwaraPoly, Ilorin, Abdul Jimoh Mohammed, has attributed poor funding, inadequate monitoring of research projects, and irregular staffing as part of factors militating against polytechnic education and its ability to contribute meaningfully towards national development.
Jimoh stated this at an interactive session with journalists in Ilorin on Monday.
According to the Rector, unfavorable public perception of polytechnic education and inadequate reward system for lecturers are also some of the factors militating against polytechnic education in Nigeria.
He, however, called for greater commitments from stakeholders to change the narratives.
Jimoh said the last time the State Polytechnic received a subvention from the State Government was in 2015, calling on the State Government to quickly come to the aid of the institution.
