Governor Caleb Mutfwang says Plateau State is positioning itself to join the ranks of states capable of hosting international sporting tournaments.
He made the remark while inspecting the ongoing remodelling of the Rwang Pam Township Stadium in Jos.
The iconic Rwang Pam Township Stadium, which has hosted several memorable football matches and major political events over the decades, is undergoing a comprehensive upgrade aimed at modernising its facilities and expanding its seating capacity.
Inspecting the pace of work, Governor Mutfwang expressed satisfaction with the progress so far and said the project is part of his administration’s broader plan to revive sports and attract international competitions to Plateau State.
He urged the contractors to accelerate work to meet the scheduled completion deadline.
The governor also inspected ongoing restoration work at the state-owned Hill Station Hotel and Plateau Hotel, where rehabilitation is being carried out under a Public-Private partnership arrangement.
Governor Mutfwang said his administration remains committed to restoring Plateau State’s legacy assets and repositioning them to drive tourism, economic growth, and sustainable development.
