Resident doctors at the Alex Ekwueme Federal University Teaching Hospital, Abakaliki, AE-FUTHA, in Ebonyi State Southeast Nigeria, have joined the ongoing nationwide strike by the Association of Resident Doctors.
ait.live monitored the situation on Wednesday and observed that the development has led to the grounding of activities in the tertiary hospital as patients had to wait endlessly for doctors.

But, very few Consultants and House Officers were sighted attending to a number of patients already admitted to the hospital before the strike while other patients were told to come back next time.
Speaking on the development, the Vice President of the NARD AE-FUTHA chapter, Dr. Ebenezer Nwakpakpa, said the strike could have been averted had the Federal Government done the needful.
