Members of the National Association of Resident Doctors, NARD have embarked on an indefinite nationwide strike with members who are on the frontline of the fight against Covid-19 in treatment centres to join in the industrial action after two weeks.
NARD President, Aliyu Sokomba announced this while addressing newsmen on Monday in Abuja, the nation’s capital.
He said the decision to go on strike followed series of meetings between the doctors and the Federal Government in the last two weeks that failed to resolve the lingering industrial issues.
The demands of the resident doctors include non-payment of their special allowances, non-domestication and non-implementation of the Medical Training Act at state levels.
