The Rivers State House of Assembly committee on public petition wants the leadership of Obi Akpor Local Government to ensure adequate security in a disputed land along the new Airport Road in Port Harcourt.
Chairman of the committee, Enemi George , who stated this during a fact finding mission to the land in dispute said the assembly has received 14 petitions on land grabbing in the area and will carry out adequate investigations.
The house committee on public petitions visit to one of the disputed plots at victory estate along the new airport road, is coming at a time when land grabbing has left victims traumatised.
Chairman of the committee on public petitions , Enemi george said one of the principal actors in the land tussle, Ogwuwerum Eke has turned down several request to appear before the committee, hence the decision to carry out an on-site assessment and interface directly with victims.
Enemi George urged the affected victims to remain calm, stressing that the Rivers State house of assembly is committed to resolving the crisis.
