The Rivers State Commissioner of Police, Olatunji Disu, says he has beefed up security across the twenty-three local government areas, (LGAs) of the state to forestall any possible breakdown of law and order, over the perceived crisis of the alleged refusal of local government chairmen, whose tenures have expired to leave office.

He charged and motivated officers and men deployed to the various LGAs to tackle any breakdown of law and order, due to the issues surrounding the expiration of council bosses’ tenures.

The Rivers State Commissioner of Police, Olatunji Disu, who briefed Newsmen in Port Harcourt, said security has been beefed up, and cautioned all parties not to take the laws into their hands.

The Rivers police boss called on the residents to go about their lawful businesses, reaffirming that the command is on top of the situation.

The Commissioner further appealed to political stakeholders and their supporters to respect the rulings of the courts, for the sake of peace and the development of the state.
