Rivers state governorship aspirant Farah Dagogo has been remanded in police custody.
This follows his arraignment before a Magistrate court in Port Harcourt on Friday morning.
The federal lawmaker representing Bonny/Degema constituency, was arrested by security aides of the Governor led by Efeturi Irikefe popularly known as Camp Commandant after he presented himself for screening at the PDP zonal headquarters in the Rivers state capital.
His travails began on Wednesday when he was declared wanted for allegedly hiring cultists to disrupt the PDP screening exercise for House of Assembly and National Assembly aspirants.
AIT crew who covered the screening had earlier reported that the exercise was peaceful and without any incident.
Dagogo had denied the allegation, saying Governor Nyesom Wike was trying to get him arrested to prevent him from attending screening as a governorship aspirant.
He was eventually picked up on Thursday when he appeared at the screening venue, and taken to government house. By Friday morning he was arraigned on two counts bordering on conspiracy and cultism.
After taking his not guilty plea, the Magistrate Amadi Nna ordered the defendant be kept in the custody of the Nigerian police force till the 9th of May 2022 when the next hearing will take place.
