The seven men judicial commission of inquiry set up by the Rivers state government to investigate alleged acts of torture,brutality,muder and violation of human rights by officers and men of the Nigerian police has commenced it’s inaugural sitting with an assurance to thoroughly investigate all petitions brought before it and to make recomendations accordingly.
The judicial commission of inquiry set up by state government across the country is unarguably one of the gains of the# EndSARS nationwide protests as it is expected to bring justice to families and victims of police brutality and extrajudicial killings which was the essence of the agitations.
In Rivers state, the chairman of the seven-man judicial panel, Justice Chukwunenye Uriri, in his inaugural speech reeled out the core mandate of his commission while assuring petitioners a level playground.

Justice Uriri also gave insight as to the number of petitions received by the commission and the timeline available to exhaust them.
Chairman, Port Harcourt branch of the Nigerian Bar Association, Prince Onyekwere, while responding to the speech told the commission that there were high expectations of citizens regarding justice and equity.
Members of the Justice Chukwuneye Uriri- led judicial commission of inquiry were sworn in on the twenty-second of October and are expected to turn in their report in sixty days from the inaugural sitting today.
