The Rivers State Government is set to commence another phase of commissioning of projects across the state, with the exercise expected to cover key sectors including road infrastructure, healthcare, education, and other critical areas.
Briefing newsmen on Friday, the Secretary to the Rivers State Government said the two-week-long commissioning exercise would showcase projects executed across various parts of the state.
The projects, according to the government, are designed to address some of the pressing needs of residents while opening up communities and creating an enabling environment for economic activities.
The road projects are expected to improve connectivity between communities, ease the movement of people and goods, and enhance access to markets, schools, healthcare facilities and other social amenities.
In the health sector, the commissioning of completed and upgraded facilities is expected to strengthen access to healthcare services, particularly for residents who have had to travel long distances to access medical attention.
Similarly, investments in the education sector are expected to provide a better learning environment for students and support the development of human capital needed to drive the state’s future growth.
Beyond the immediate benefits to residents, the spread of the projects across the state is expected to accelerate development by opening up previously underserved areas and stimulating economic activities.
Improved infrastructure could also strengthen Rivers State’s attractiveness to investors by providing better roads, public facilities and an environment capable of supporting businesses and industries.
For local businesses, increased infrastructure spending is expected to create opportunities in construction, transportation, hospitality, commerce and other related sectors, while generating employment and boosting economic activity.

The two-week commissioning exercis, therefore, represents more than the unveiling of completed projects.
It is also an opportunity to demonstrate how sustained investment in infrastructure can improve living standards, unlock economic potential and position Rivers State for greater investment and development.
