With the increasing number of child labour in Nigeria, stakeholders have called on the government to strengthen the child rights act for the protection of children against harmful practices and exploitation.
Speaking in Port Harcourt, the Rivers state capital, south south Nigeria Stakeholders said that available statistics from the International Labour Organisation ILO shows that that out of the 152 million children engage in child labour Globally, sub-Saharan Africa has 1.5million victims due to poverty.
They cautioned that those who went through childhood labour may suffer from psychological disorders later in life.

To prevent this they therefore advocated for a better life for the Nigerian child through concerted efforts in the fight against child labour in the country.
