Former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has formally joined the 2027 presidential race as he submits his expression of interest and nomination forms at the National Secretariat of the African Democratic Congress, ADC in Abuja, the nation’s capital.
Amaechi, a former Governor of Rivers State, completed the process on Thursday, signaling his intention to contest for Nigeria’s top office under the ADC platform.
His entry into the race is seen as a significant development within the party as it continues to attract high-profile political figures ahead of the general elections.
The submission took place at the party’s national headquarters, where party officials and supporters gathered, reflecting growing interest in the ADC’s political agenda.
The party has positioned itself as a platform for national renewal, emphasising credible leadership, unity, and people-centered governance.
Party insiders say the increasing number of aspirants aligning with the ADC underscores a broader shift in Nigeria’s political landscape, as voters and stakeholders seek alternative platforms capable of addressing the country’s economic and governance challenges.
Amaechi’s declaration is expected to intensify political activities within the party, as preparations for the 2027 presidential election gradually gather momentum.
