Ukhun community and six other neighboring communities in Esan west local government area of Edo State will soon been cut off from Ekpoma and nearby towns if nothing is done urgently by the federal or state government to stop the activities of sand miners who continue to excavate sand few metres close to the only access road to the communities.
Elders and youths of Ukhun community say if timely intervention is not effected, by relevant government agencies, it will cause serious communal clashes between them and Ekpoma
The activities of sand miners at the boundary between Ekpoma and Ukhun community in Esan west local government area of Edo State is causing great fear in the hearts of elders and youths of Ukhun community and six others.

Ukhun indegenes who revealed that the sand miners have exceeded their boundaries say all efforts to get government agencies to rescue the situation failed to yeild positive result.
ait.live visited the site and observed that over 50 sand trucks were loaded out of the pit causing more panic for indegenes of Ukhun community,
Angered by the recent development the community stopped the workers from working and drove them away.
