Former President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki, has officially unveiled Kale Kawu as the Kwara State consensus governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP ahead of the 2027 election.
In a statement released after what he described as wide consultations with party stakeholders and frontline aspirants, Saraki said the decision was reached in the overall interest of the party and the people of Kwara State, North-Central Nigeria.
He praised other aspirants for stepping down and supporting the consensus arrangement, stressing that their unity, maturity and sacrifice would further strengthen the PDP ahead of the crucial 2027 governorship contest.

With the emergence of the retired Director with the Rural Electrification Agency, REA, as the PDP consensus candidate, political attention is now shifting to what is expected to be a fierce showdown with 41-year-old Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Saliu Yakubu Danladi, who emerged as Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC.

Political analysts are already predicting an intense and dramatic political battle as both major parties prepare for what could become one of Kwara State’s most closely watched governorship races in recent history.
